What is Planter Fasciitis?
The Planter Fascia is the ligament that stretches from your heel to your toes. Planter Fasciitis simply means that the ligament that runs from your heel to toe has become inflamed.

A few things to know about the Planter Fascia.
The plantar fascia supports the arch of your foot and bears your weight. It absorbs pressure caused by walking, running, jumping...you get the idea. Tension and stress on the fascia can cause small tears and swelling. Tension and stress can be cause by everyday foot mechanics, or if you have high-arched feet or flat feet, wear the wrong pair of shoes, are overweight or obese, stand for long periods of time, are an athlete or exercise a lot (with or with proper stretching).

Planter Fasciitis symptoms.
You may experience a swollen heel, pain that is worse in the morning, increased pain after exercising/working out
There may be pain in the arch of the foot, a tight Achilles tendon, pain when you stand after sitting for a long time.
Pain that continues for months, and pain on the bottom of the heel.

Four ways to ease Planter Fasciitis pain
  1. Rest! Limit physical activity and prolonged standing. Your feet will thank you.
  2. Massage and ice it! A good massage can help relieve the area, then put ice on it for about 10 minutes to reduce inflammation.
  3. Wear the proper shoes! Use appropriate shoe inserts, arch supports or custom-made foot orthotics.
  4. Get special made compression socks! Our Physician designed YoU Compression® Socks will help ease the pain and tension in the plantar fascia.
